Also known as Wild Pansy an infusion from the herb was said to ease a broken heart hence, the common name 'heartsease'. The aerial parts are valuable in treating skin diseases such as eczema, psoriasis, acne and even cradlecap in babies. The herb is also used as a diuretic, antipyretic, tonic, laxative and anti-inflammatory. Contains salicylic acid and salicylates, saponins, flavonoids (high in rutin up to 24%) tannin, mucilage.
