Fenugreek Seeds
Trigonella foenum-graecum
This herb has been used as a fodder crop for ages. Introduced by the Benedictine monks to Central Europe and promoted by Charlemagne in the ninth century. A favorite of the Arab physicians and used by the Egyptians, not only medicinally, but used sprouted seeds and leaves for a vegetable as well. In India the seeds are used in curry powder and to make a yellow dye.
