This tender biennial is the actual source of the cotton fiber that is used in so many of the things we rely on in our everyday living. The plant contains gossypol, which in anti-parasitic and antiviril. Studies in China are being conducted for its use as a male anti-fertility drug. Cotton is easy to grow and can be kept in a container as specimen to grow just for fun.
