Centaury Seeds

Centaurium erythaea

Common Centaury is named after the centaur Chiron who treated himself with it after being wounded with an arrow. Also called Gentian since it has similar properties and is used for the same purposes. Some of the Celtic peoples of Europe considered it a lucky plant. Widely grown in the Middle Ages, it is still used today to stimulate appetite and aid digestion. Produces clusters of five petaled dark pink flowers.
