Cascade Certified Organic Hops Rhizome
Very successful and well-established American aroma hop developed by Oregon State University's breeding program in 1956 from Fuggle and Serebrianker (a Russian variety), but not released for cultivation until 1972. Gives the distinct citrus/grapefruit aroma to Sierra Nevada Pale Ale with it's spicy citrus aroma. One of the "Three Cs" along with Centennial and Columbus. Named for the Cascade Mountain Range in Oregon.Substitutes: Centennial (but it has much more AA)
Used to brew: English Ales, Lagers, Pilsners, English Ales, ESBs
- Alpha acid: 4-6%
- Beta acids: 6-7.5%
- Co-humulone: 30-35%
- Myrcene: 45-60% total oil
- Farnesene: 6-9% total oil
- Humulene: 14-20% total oil
