Scarlet Runner Bean Seeds
Phaseolus coccineus
The intense red flowers of this climbing bean are excellent to use in salads and as garnishes. The young beans are also edible. We use the flowers in our herb flower salads and the more we use them the more flowers they produce. They make a beautiful trellis and the flowers attract hummingbirds as well.
Seed Germinating Tips: Plant outdoors in spring after danger of frost, or indoors 6 weeks before last frost. Cover 1/2" with fine soil, firmly and keep moist. Provide a trellis or strings for vines to climb. Removing spent flowers will promote more flowers.
